| Merab Pachulia, Founder |
Merab Pachulia is trained in quantitative and qualitative research methods. He has spent the last twenty years conducting research for some of the world’s most prestigious institutions and multinational companies. Merab effectively began the commercial research industry in Georgia beginning in the later 1980s and early 1990s. From the beginning of his career, he has overseen international projects, trained research agencies in various countries about assignments and helped transfer methodology and knowledge to a wide range of project managers and data analysts. Over the past two decades, he has been responsible for over 1,000 public opinion and market research projects. Merab has served as a principal researcher in the following studies: World Values Surveys in the Caucasus (1995; 2007); European Values Surveys (2008), The Eurobarometer (1992-1994), and United Nations Crime Victim Surveys (1992; 1995; 2010-2011).

| Gordon Heald, Founder |
Gordon was instrumental in founding GORBI in 1991. He has visited Georgia on several occasions, presenting survey results to the Georgian media and political elite. Gordon’s first trips to Georgia were in the early 1990s, during times of civil war and armed conflict. Gordon, however, has always believed in the importance of civil institutions and in building open societies and has helped further an open society in Georgia. Gordon is the Chairman of Opinion Research Business (ORB, www.opinion.co.uk), which he established in 1994. He was previously the Managing Director of the Gallup Poll, from 1980-1994, and a director of the company for 25 years. He has extensive political polling experience, having worked all over the world conducting polls for politicians such as British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, American President Ronald Reagan and Russia’s President Yeltsin as well as other heads of state. He holds degrees in economics from Cambridge University and in physics from London University and has more recently earned a higher degree in econometrics from the London School of Economics. |
| Nino Gulashvili, Senior Project Manager |
Nino is trained in educational and survey research methods and has experience conducting a wide range of research projects for GORBI. Nino joined GORBI in 1991 and her primary responsibilities include research methodology and development, managing field staff, preparing handbooks, and supervising projects. She has conducted more than 500 training sessions at GORBI. Nino was the key researcher for the Business Environment and Enterprise Performance Survey (BEEPS) and the Management, Organization and Innovation Survey (MOI), which was conducted in 2008-2009 for the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Moldova, Mongolia and Ukraine.

| Irina Pilia, Senior Project Manager |
Irina has a degree in sociology from Tbilisi State University. She has been managing all aspects of survey related work - as an interviewer, supervisor and project manager – for GORBI since 1998. She has contributed greatly to the development of the organization and the execution of several internationally-recognized projects including The Voice of the People and the End of Year Poll (annual surveys conducted by Gallup International member companies). Currently, Irina serves as the project manager for the Caucasus Health in Times of Transition project which, among other components, involves conducting nationwide opinion polls in all three Caucasus countries.

| Maka Batlidze, Senior Project Manager |
Maka specializes in qualitative surveys. She is a psychologist and has been worked with GORBI since 2005, conducting social science research projects for international and domestic clients. She has conducted over 50 research projects. Maka moderates focus groups, writes analytical reports, and has completed a number of social assessment reports for international financial institutions, think-tanks and governments.

| Tea Chanturia, Senior Project Manager |
| Tea holds a B.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy and an M.A. in Law. She joined the company in 2008 and has managed several projects in former Soviet bloc countries. She specializes in project management and has conducted extensive training with colleagues from Central Asia, the Caucasus and Eastern Europe. At present, Tea is a key researcher on the Georgian Crime Survey, 2010-2011 (sponsored by the EU Delegation in Georgia) and principal coordinator for the European Neighborhood Policy Instrument assessment project. Tea also greatly contributed to World Bank and EBRD business environment assessment projects in more than 10 countries during 2008-2009.

| Nino Janashvili, Project Manager |
Nino holds an M.A. in Chemistry and has been with the company since 1999. Nino is in charge of recruiting respondents for focus groups and in-depth interviews. During the last decade she has recruited participants for more than 100 projects for domestic and international clients. She is a fluent Russian speaker and works with back-translations and other survey activities.

| Natia Kikacheishvili |
Natia has a degree in Psychology from Tbilisi State University. She specializes in qualitative surveys. Over the past few years, she has conducted and supervised scores of focus groups and in-depth interviews. | Joseph Gogodze |
A statistician and economist, Dr. Gogodze joined GORBI in 2003. From 1990 to 1995 he served as First Deputy Chairman and later Chairman of the State Department of Statistics, where he worked for many years developing a mechanism for the design and evaluation of survey instruments in the areas of national accounts, international trade, price statistics, general household surveys, social research (poverty levels and adjusted methodologies) welfare measurement and poverty. He also devised methods of measuring between variables in collaboration with international donors such as the World Bank, the UN and the EU. Dr. Gogodze has an unparalleled track record of conducting complex substantive work on sampling design and the analysis of data from government agencies and private sector institutions. |
| Levan Kalandadze |
Levan holds an M.A. in engineering. He joined GORBI in 1993. His main responsibilities include continued professional development of staff, logistics, and financial management. He is the liaison for all branch offices. |
| David Korashvili |
| David is in charge of GORBI’s quality control team. He is responsible for training personnel and conducting detailed checks of field performance.
At present, David serves as a component manager for the Georgian Road Survey Project (sponsored by the Millennium Challenge Corporation) which involves collecting data through the use of more than 100 persons and over 50 vehicles. |
| Tina Jolokhava |
| Tina holds a degree in economics and has been a professional accountant for more than 30 years. She has worked with GORBI for the past 14 years. She is in charge of a team of financial officers and draws up all of GORBI’s contracts. |
| David Jvania |
| David has been with GORBI since 2003 and oversees all the logistical requirements for the company and its projects. |
| Lance Allen |
Lance holds an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Iowa. Lance came to Georgia in 1997 and has worked with GORBI in various capacities since that time. He has greatly contributed to building the brand image of the company. He worked as General Manager of GORBI during the late 1990s and has worked closely with several clients on designing survey instruments and reporting. He was directly involved in the first-ever corruption survey conducted in Georgia on behalf of the World Bank in 1998. Lance has helped the company develop several projects from grassroots to final analytics. |
| Ian Carver |
Ian joined the GORBI family shortly after graduating from the University of Massachusetts in 2006. He has been assisting in the preparation of proposals and analytical reports for the company on a part-time basis while gaining additional professional experience in the field of international development, which has included assignments in Georgia and Afghanistan. |
| Giorgi Zakariashvili |
Giorgi holds a Masters of the Arts degree in documentary film production from the Movie and Theater University of of Georgia. He has worked for more than 10 years at the Georgian Public Broadcast as a director of photography and has also directed several TV programs. Giorgi joined GORBI in 2008 and he has set up focus group facilities at GORBI and thanks to his effort client can enjoy higth quality audio and visual representations of group discussions or individual interviews. |

Joseph Gill is a gifted software/web developer and IT Manager with over 11 years of experience. He has worked with organizations and projects covering a vast array of sizes and scope. Joseph is currently the Head of the Information Technology Department leading projects to update our IT infrastructure and the development of this website. |
